General info

Are you a part of any denomination?

Our church is one of the churches belonging to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Canada (ECCC). We are actively partnered with them in the mission to live intentionally, missionally, and according to kingdom priorities. They are a multi-ethnic denomination that values scripture-based teaching and missional living. Feel free to visit their website to learn more: https://www.covchurch.ca/

What kind of people go to your church?

The people at Encounter Church span all ages and backgrounds. You can find people who are studying, working, retired, or just trying to figure things out. We have members from the local community as well as from the Greater Toronto Area. Some even travel around the world on a regular basis. The point is: ALL ARE WELCOME!

Do you have any updates in light of Covid-19?
Yes! Scroll down to the bottom of the page to sign up for our newsletter and receive all the latest updates. We'll let you know as soon as we reopen for in-person gatherings. We will also post updates here
What happens when you can't gather in person?
We are streaming our services every Sunday at 10:00AM (EST). Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don't miss a video! We've still got lots of ways to stay connected as the church - find out more here
What time is Sunday Service? (paused in light of COVID-19)

Service begins at 1:45PM. Our team is on-site by 1:00PM for setup and prayer if you'd like to come by a bit earlier and say hi!

Your address is also listed as "Eden United Church"?

That's right! We are currently a small community and the team at Eden United Church have kindly welcomed us in to rent their space on Sunday afternoons. Keep an eye out for our signs to find your way inside!

Is there parking available?

Yes - there is plenty  of on-site parking available. Please click here for more info on how to find us.

What kind of things do you do in worship?

We strive to create a welcoming and meaningful space for everyone to encounter Jesus. We like to get creative in sharing stories of how God is working in our daily lives - whether that be through words or a skit. We sing songs and pray together. We take offering to further God's work. We read the bible and talk about it through the sermon and small groups.

Is there a dress code?

Nope. You're just as likely to see someone in their "Sunday best", as someone else in a casual tee and jeans. Dress comfortably and come ready to worship.

Is the building accessible?

Yes! The building is wheelchair friendly and fully accessible.

Do you have a children's program?

COVID-19 Update:

We are continuing to meet online with our kids and youth. You can contact our children's director to introduce yourself and find out how to take part.

Can you tell me more about your volunteers?

All volunteers in our Children's ministry must complete a vulnerable sector check. We are currently working to implement a volunteer training program by a third party. More details to come.

Our children's director has a background in Early Childhood Education and is CPR certified. You can find out more by emailing our children's director: kids@encountercc.ca

What is Family Sunday? (paused in light of Covid-19)

Family Sunday takes place on the second Sunday of each month. On these Sundays, all of our children will join the larger worship service and our regular children's program will be on hold. We do this because children are an important part of our community. We want them to always feel welcomed and valued in God's presence - along with their whispering, crying and giggles! Please note that this time is NOT exclusive to children or families. As usual, everyone is welcome regardless of age or status.
